Hear The Bill
We Read...You Listen...We ALL Decide
Meet Lisa Junco
The voice over community is just that -- a true community, and one filled with genuine warmth and support for one another.

We have enjoyed getting to know some wonderfully talented and generous souls during the making of this project. We thought you might like getting acquainted with them as well.

Lisa is one of our most reliable and dedicated volunteers, having read for all the bills posted on the site to date. She has spent the past 25 years working in the areas of Business Administration and Montessori Early Childhood Education.  She has worked for corporations such as IBM and Mead Johnson Laboratories.  When her children were young, Lisa pursued a Montessori Teaching Education to be near her children.  She is now semi-retired and pursues her acting interests.  Lisa has been involved with film, TV, and print work in the Chicago area since 2007.

What is your professional background and how long have you been doing voice over?
I am a relative newcomer to voiceover.  I began my voiceover training in early 2008.  I continue to take classes and workshops to hone my skills.  I am actively working to make voiceover a full time career.

What is your most memorable VO experience?
My first voiceover job immediately comes to mind.  A Chicago-based e-learning company called me to perform the role of a librarian for a teaching module they were putting together for the Public Library Association.  Later, I also performed on-camera for the same project.

Working on the Hearthebill Project runs a close second.  Being able to affect and assist so many people during this critical point in United States history is an honor.  I am so grateful for the opportunity!

What other types of volunteer work have you done and or do now?
When my children were younger, I worked as an assistant soccer coach, PTA volunteer, Sunday school teacher and Band parent.  I have also worked with Literacy Volunteers.  Currently, I am an on-air radio reader for Chicago Radio Information Services  (CRIS) which is part of the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.  I read news, commentaries, comics, and the advice columns from local newspapers. I have also performed introductions for CRIS programming segments.

I am also member of The Saints.  We are an organization of volunteers for the performing arts.  We have over 2000 members, which serve over 80 Chicago and suburban theater, dance and music organizations.   Saints members provide help to these organizations by ushering, stuffing and distributing playbills, assisting with coat checks and other activities needed by the house managers.  In return, we are able to watch the productions free.   The Saints also award monetary grants to not-for-profit performing arts organizations located in Chicago and the surroundings neighborhoods.

What do I envision as the future of Hear the Bill?

It is my hope that word of the Hearthebill project will continue to spread and the project grows to include other legislation.  This is such a valuable service to those with visual impairments and to people who are auditory learners.  Putting legislation in an audio format makes it more accessible, user friendly and hopefully engages people in the political process.
